About our School

Pakefield School is a county school and is thus financed through Suffolk County Council. The original two-storey building was constructed in 1913. An extension was added in 1997 providing us with three classroom spaces, an activity area and a Nursery unit. A new early years classroom has been constructed to offer extra teaching space for Key Stage 1 pupils. The school offers modern comforts with a feel of tradition.

The school is organised into three sections which work closely together to ensure children’s progress through the school is a happy experience and educationally rewarding. The Foundation Stage includes the Nursery which caters for part-time pupils and the classes formally known as reception. Key Stage 1 classes include all pupils in Y 1and Y 2. Key Stage 2 is for children in years 3 and 4.

Children are all arranged in mixed ability classes. We have two class groups in each year group except for the present year 1 where an intake of 64 pupils has led to the need of an extra class. Children remain with their class teacher for the majority of their time in school but there may be occasions when other teachers are responsible for the class. In this way we are able to use particular strengths of some of our staff.
