Welcome to the Governors' section!
The Governing Body of Pakefield Primary School carries out a range of significant duties, as it is legally required to do, working closely with the Headteacher and the school's Leadership Team. Its primary purpose is to set policies and to support the school's management in carrying them out, ensuring that the school is as effective as possible in the education it provides for its pupils.
At one time Governing Bodies were required to hold Annual Meetings to report to parents. These meetings have now been replaced with an online School Profile, which is updated at least annually. Please Click on the link at the foot of this page to see the Pakefield Primary School Profile.
Amongst the specific responsibilities of the Governing Body are the following:
- Helping to develop school policies and development plans
- Setting statutory targets and assisting in the monitoring and evaluation of the school's effectiveness
- Setting the school budget
- Appointing staff
The detailed work of the Governing Body is undertaken by committees. Each committee reports to the full Governing Body at least once each term. The Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Committee Chairmen are elected annually. Governors are also attached to specific areas of the school and keep up to date in these areas.
